"Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri in his address from Beirut on Sunday affirmed his country's readiness for talks on Hezbollah's weapons. "We reiterate that we are open to discussing the fate of these weapons, which are our pride and honour as Lebanon, within the framework of a calm, consensual dialogue under the umbrella of the constitution," he said. "This should lead to formulating a national security strategy that protects Lebanon, liberates its land, and safeguards its internationally recognised borders." Berri also criticised Israel for non-compliance with the ceasefire agreement, noting that "Lebanon implemented the agreement in full, as attested by UNIFIL reports," while "the political and military levels of the Israeli entity have not adhered to any of its clauses." The Lebanese government had previously tasked the army with preparing a plan to disarm Hezbollah before the end of this year, a move rejected by the party, which described it as a 'major sin,' considering that it 'undermines Lebanon's sovereignty and gives Israel free rein to tamper with its security and geography'. Israel has been launching several raids on Lebanese territories since the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah entered into force on November 27 last year. The agreement has generally been held, despite both parties exchanging accusations of repeated violations."
