'We don't give a damn about Palestine!' - Paris protesters slam 'disrespect' shown to French monuments at Gaza demos

"Hundreds of conservative protesters gathered in Paris on Sunday, denouncing what they see as growing hostility toward pro-France supporters, amid broader concerns over national identity and political polarisation. Footage filmed at the Place de la Republique shows demonstrators waving French Tricolours, with others holding signs that read 'I am the flag' and 'Europe is enough'. One of the protesters climbed the historic Monument a la Republique, tearing down the Palestinian flag and covering pro-Gaza graffiti previously marked on the structure. "We don't give a damn about Palestine. We're not Macron. Macron is pro-Palestine, so let him go there. Is he looking for another job as president? I suggest he go to Palestine, they're looking for a president there," exclaimed one of the protesters. "That graffiti on the monument, it's intolerable. People have the right to demonstrate with other flags, but we must respect our heritage, our culture, and our traditions. It was the French who built all this," added another rally participant. Many protesters believe the French flag has been unfairly associated with fascism and nationalist views. "The French flag is constantly associated with the far-right, when in fact it is a flag that unifies our country, brings us all together, and should not be associated with any one political side," said a protester. "As soon as you wave the French flag, people say you're racist, you're a fascist. But that's not true. It doesn't matter what colour your skin is," said another demonstrator. The demonstration was organised by the campaign group 'Les Patriotes de la Diversite' to express 'pride and love for France'. Rising pro-Palestine protests in France, fueled by the Gaza conflict, have prompted a sharp reaction from far-right and nationalist groups, who depict the demonstrations as a challenge to French national identity and a threat tied to immigration."
