Philippines wins six major world travel awards

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines achieved another milestone in global tourism after bagging six major recognitions at the 2025 World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia and Oceania Gala Ceremony. The country earned its eighth title as Asia’s Leading Beach Destination, seventh consecutive win as Asia’s Leading Dive Destination, and a back-to-back victory as Asia’s Leading Island Destination. Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco commended the awards as a testament to the nation’s resilience and the dedication of tourism workers across the islands. “These awards reaffirm the country’s place among the world’s premier destinations,” Frasco said. The Department of Tourism was also hailed as Asia’s Leading Tourist Board, while Boracay and Clark Freeport Zone received top honors for luxury island and conference tourism destination, solidifying the Philippines’ reputation as a world-class travel destination.
