"The remains of four Israeli hostages arrived in Tel Aviv on Monday for identification procedures after being released by Hamas as part of the Gaza peace agreement. Footage shows Israeli police escorting the vehicles carrying the remains to the National Centre for Forensic Medicine, while emotional well-wishers lined the roadsides holding flowers and Israeli flags. Earlier, Hamas released the names of the four deceased hostages who were returned, including Guy Illouz, Yossi Sharabi, Bipin Joshi, and Daniel Peretz. Hamas has yet to release the remains of 24 more hostages, indicating that more time may be required. Twenty living hostages were handed over by Hamas to the Red Cross on Monday, before transfer to Reim military base in Israel, while around 1,700 Palestinians detained in Gaza since October 2023 and 250 more serving life sentences are being freed under the deal. The first phase of the deal, agreed by Israel and Hamas last week, includes the ceasefire, the swapping of hostages and prisoners, and the Israeli military withdrawal to the 'yellow line' in Gaza. Subsequent phases will include the governance of Gaza, the future of Hamas and the reconstruction of the enclave."
