3 strong aftershocks rattle Negros Oriental town

MANILA, Philippines —Three strong aftershocks with magnitudes 5.8 and 5.2 shook Manay town in Negros Oriental on Tuesday. At 10 a.m., a magnitude 5.8 earthquake rattled the town, followed by a magnitude 5.2 tremor at 10:19 a.m. A third one, with a magnitude 5.2, occurred at 10:39 a.m., the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said. The agency said that damage to property from the three earthquakes was unlikely. As of 8 a.m., Tuesday, Phivolcs said 1,281 aftershocks have been recorded since the province was struck with a powerful magnitude 7.4 earthquake on October 10.
