CEBU CITY – Three dogs perished in two separate fires here on Wednesday morning, Oct. 15. No was injured in the twin fires. The first fire happened past 6 a.m. in Barangay Duljo Fatima where Rushie, a seven-year-old mixed Labrador, and Thunder, a five-year-old Bulldog, died. Dhave Claver, the owner of the two dogs, said Thunder and Rushie failed to escape from their burning house though they were not caged or tied. Claver, a chef, said he was at work when the fire broke out. According to the Cebu City Fire Station, the fire destroyed 11 houses and damaged another one. Damage to property reached P1.1 million while 12 families were displaced. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. Three hours later, another fire broke out in Barangay Labangon. The fire was reported at 9:35 a.m. and was put out at 9:54 a.m. Three houses were razed, displacing eight families. Property damage was pegged at P357,000. A dog was later found dead in the debris.
