LPA may enter PH but easterlies to bring rains in Metro Manila, other areas

MANILA, Philippines – A low pressure area (LPA) off Eastern Visayas may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) within the day, the state-run weather agency said on Thursday. The weather disturbance may develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 to 36 hours, weather specialist Loriedin Dela Cruz-Galicia of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said. Pagasa said the storm, once inside, would be called "Ramil," the 18th storm to hit the country this year. Based on Pagasa's projection, the weather disturbance may make landfall between Cagayan and Isabela. “It is also forecast to first pass through Bicol Region before it passes close (to) Northern and Central Luzon,” the Pagasa forecaster said. In the meantime, the national weather bureau said Metro Manila, Visayas, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), Bicol Region, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, and Bulacan would have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies. The other weather system – the northeasterly wind flow – has been affecting Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte where partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated light rains would prevail. Pagasa said the rest of Luzon would likely have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also due to the easterlies- winds that pass through the Pacific Ocean and carry humid and warm weather. Mindanao, on one hand, will be experiencing similar weather patterns but due to the localized thunderstorms, it added.
