MMDA sets new mall hours, sale rules for holiday traffic management

MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on Friday new shopping mall operating hours across Metro Manila as part of the agency's holiday season traffic management plan. MMDA Chairman Romando Artes and mall operators in the capital region agreed to adjust the operating hours from 11:00 a.m to 11:00 p.m for the coming holiday season. Artes also said that mall-wide sales would only be allowed on weekends. The agency, however, clarified that individual stores may still hold sales during weekdays, provided they make no publich announcements, advertisements, or install any promotional tarpaulins. Mall operators were also directed to submit their respective traffic management plans at least two weeks prior to any scheduled mall sale, or promotional event.
