Romualdez asks ICI to postpone hearing due to 'medical procedure'

MANILA, Philippines — Former Speaker Martin Romualdez asked the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to postpone his hearing scheduled next week, as he would supposedly undergo a "medical procedure," the commission announced Saturday. "Congressman Ferdinand Martin Romualdez has requested to postpone the hearing originally set for Oct. 22, 2025, as he is scheduled to undergo a medical procedure," the ICI said in its advisory. "The Commission will issue an advisory once a date for the next hearing has been determined," it added. Romualdez, counsin of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, is one of those who are tagged in the flood control issue in the country. Amid the accusation, Romualdez stepped down from the House speakership to allow the full investigation of the issue. On Oct. 14, Romualdez attended the ICI hearing for the first time, where he said he was able to share his side of the story.
