Finland and Sweden on Wednesday signed a framework agreement for command and control systems with Finnish company Bittium , said Finnish Defence Forces in a press release. Major General Tero Ylitalo, Chief of the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command, Johan Andersson, Deputy Director, Command and Information Systems Division of the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), and Tommi Kangas, Senior Vice President, Bittium Groups Defense & Security Business Segment signed the deal in Tampere. The agreement enables the procurement of tactical communication systems and products, software-defined radios, secure software, and telephones, as well as joint product development. The contracting party, Bittium Wireless Oy, produces command and control system solutions, such as tactical communication systems, as well as related products and services. The joint framework agreements between Finland and Sweden enable cost efficient procurement of certain products and services through larger purchase volumes. The framework agreements also enable joint product development with and Sweden with the supplier, and other countries can join them.
