DPWH deploys over 9,000 personnel for clearing, emergency ops for Uwan

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) deployed on Sunday 9,405 workers for quick response in preparation for the impact of Super Typhoon Uwan (international name: Fung-wong). A total of 1,603 pieces of equipment were also deployed to critical areas for clearing operations and emergency repairs after the anticipated effects of Uwan, the DPWH said. DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon said the agency was making proactive efforts to prepare against the super typhoon to ease the opening of roads for rescue and relief operations after Uwan passes through those critical areas.
