Billboard panel falls amid rains; Katipunan service road closed

MANILA, Philippines — The Katipunan Service Road southbound from Xavierville Avenue to Aurora Boulevard in Quezon City was temporarily closed after a panel of an electronic billboard attached to a building collapsed amid heavy rains and gusty winds from Typhoon Uwan. The metal structure fell on the service road, injuring two persons. Rescue teams and traffic enforcers immediately responded to clear debris and secure the site. The strong winds and rain brought by Typhoon Uwan caused the panel to detach from the building, prompting authorities to cordon off the area on Monday. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said motorists traveling along Katipunan southbound are being rerouted to Xavierville Avenue or the Katipunan flyover, while those heading to Marcos Highway may take a U-turn on Katipunan before B. Serrano southbound.
