Typhoon Uwan may trigger storm surges in Ilocos – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Storm surges of up to three meters from Typhoon Uwan are highly likely within the next 12 hours along the coastal areas of the Ilocos Region, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Monday afternoon. In its 2 p.m. advisory, Pagasa warned of “moderate to high risk of storm surge” and flooding due to rising sea water and high waves in low-lying coastal areas.
