CALASIAO, Pangasinan— A 50-year-old farmer from Sta. Cruz, Ilocos Sur, died on Sunday night after being struck by a fully grown mango tree at the height of Typhoon Uwan’s onslaught. Police said the victim had been sitting outside his house despite strong winds when the tree was uprooted and fell on him. Responding police officers and members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) were able to remove the tree trunk, but the victim was already unconscious.
