Leo XIV in Lebanon - Pope prays at St. Charbel's tomb, tours Annaya monastery during 3-day visit

"Pope Leo XIV visited the Annaya Monastery on Monday and was welcomed by Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, as part of his official visit to Lebanon. Footage shows the Pope's arrival amid cheering crowds, as well as scenes of him praying at St. Charbel's tomb and meeting with the monks. The Pope had arrived in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Sunday for a three-day visit, marking his second stop after Turkey. The pontiff is also expected to preside over a Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of Lebanon. The Pope's visit to Lebanon comes amid heightened regional tensions and escalating Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon. It also follows threats from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government of potential military action if Lebanese authorities fail to disarm the Hezbollah group. Israel has conducted multiple airstrikes inside Lebanon since a ceasefire with Hezbollah took effect on November 27, 2024."
