Father Frost in India - Russian 'Santa' spreads New Year cheer around famous landmarks

"Russia’s Father Frost - a character similar to Santa Claus - arrived in India to spread festive cheer among locals ahead of the upcoming holiday. Footage from November 27 shows the iconic figure visiting the Sancta Maria International School in New Delhi and giving presents to children, while video from November 29 features him touring Pancha Rathas, posing with the famous Krishna’s Butterball rock, and walking along the Bengal Bay coast in Chennai. "I love travelling around towns and cities every year to wish children a happy New Year," Father Frost said, addressing the students. "Father Frost visited the Bengal Bay for the first time and dipped his feet in the water," said the legendary figure’s own press service. "He saw the bay before the storm that is approaching the Indian region. Now he’s off to Mumbai." The trip to India was organised through the Russian House in New Delhi and the Indian Association of Russian Compatriots. It comes ahead of the visit of another big Russian figure - Vladimir Putin - at the end of the week. In Russia and other countries, Father Frost brings presents to children on New Year’s Eve, leaving them under the New Year tree - similar to Father Christmas or Santa Claus on Christmas Eve."
