MANILA, Philippines — No crimes were recorded in the wake of Tropical Depression Basyang (international name Penha), the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Monday. 30,361 individuals took shelter in evacuation centers across the affected regions, PNP Public Safety Division chief Col. Liza Macapinlac told reporters in a press briefing in Camp Crame. “The PNP has no recorded looting incidents nor crime incidents related to Basyang,” she said. “Police visibility has been intensified particularly in evacuation centers, commercial areas and critical infrastructure to prevent criminal activities and ensure public safety,” she added.
