MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Monday shot down speculations that Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco and Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa are on their way out over the supposed growing public dissatisfaction with their performance. In a press briefing, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro said the issue has not been discussed between President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the two officials. “There has been no discussion regarding the supposed dissatisfaction being mentioned on social media or online, and these are purely speculation,” Castro said in Filipino. Frasco drew flak over her alleged self-promotion and for the Philippines’ low tourist arrivals compared to neighboring Southeast Asian nations. Herbosa, on the other hand, has been accused of committing corrupt practices in running the DOH. “For now, both Cabinet secretaries continue to enjoy the trust and confidence of the President,” Castro said.
