Pagasa monitors cloud clusters along PAR boundary

MANILA, Philippines – The state-run weather agency stated on Tuesday that it is closely monitoring several cloud clusters at the boundary of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). However, weather specialist Veronica Torres of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), in a 5 a.m. briefing, declined to elaborate on the possibility of development and direction in the coming days. Torres said the convergence of hot and cold air, or shear line, has been affecting the Visayas, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Dinagat Islands, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain and isolated thunderstorms. Meanwhile, the Pagasa forecaster said the northeast monsoon or ‘amihan’ would prevail over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, the rest of Bicol Region, and Quezon province, bringing overcast skies with light rains. The same weather system will affect Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated light rain expected within the next 24 hours, Pagasa said. Meanwhile, parts of Mindanao will be affected by localized thunderstorms, bringing cloudy skies with isolated rain showers, it added.
