MANILA, Philippines — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) late Wednesday said it uncovered violations in the sale, handling, and distribution of anti-rabies vaccines, following the death of an eight-year-old patient from rabies. In a statement, the agency said it conducted an enforcement operation in Baler, Aurora, where it targeted drugstores near Aurora Memorial Hospital, where the anti-rabies vaccines were reportedly purchased. “Among the violations was the discovery of suspected counterfeit anti-rabies vaccines identified as 'Equirab,' bearing batch numbers flagged under FDA Advisory No. 2025-1415,” the statement read. The agency said the drugstore failed to provide valid documents to prove the products were authentic and properly tracked.
