DILG raises bounty for Atong Ang to P20M

MANILA, Philippines — Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Thursday announced that his office has increased the bounty for information leading to the arrest of fugitive businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang to P20 million from P10 million. Remulla told a press briefing that the reward came from confidential funds of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for cases like this. Despite information that Ang has flown abroad, particularly in Cambodia, Remulla said authorities believed he was still in the country. The DILG chief's statement comes after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia said that Ang was not in their country, citing a report from the Immigration General Department of the Ministry of Interior of Cambodia that it has no record of his entry or exit. “We really believe he is still here in the Philippines,” Remulla said.
