Caloocan bares housing initiative

CALOOCAN City Mayor Dale Gonzalo Malapitan announced Thursday a plan to distribute housing units to 10,000 residents. The initiative would be done in collaboration with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD). Malapitan said some 125 families in Barangay 168, Deparo were the beneficiaries of the housing units under the expanded Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH), the flagship program of the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. “The turnover of the housing units to the Deparo beneficiaries was only the start of more similar events that would be taking place in the coming months to benefit more of my constituents who deserve to have their own unit,” Malapitan said. He added the city’s Housing and Resettlement Office has already been coordinating with housing agencies for the distribution of more than 60 units under 4PH to more than 200 beneficiaries in the coming weeks. According to DHSUD, the 4PH provides low-cost but decent and permanent housing opportunities to the city’s vulnerable and marginalized constituency, especially long-time informal settlers. Malapitan cited the strong partnership of the city government with the National Housing Authority and Pag-IBIG Fund. “I also congratulate my constituents for their new homes, and I hope that they would take care of their units the way they take good care of their families.”
