MANILA, Philippines — Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno on Friday led the celebration of the 125th founding anniversary of its police force, highlighting its evolution from a small unit into a model for law enforcement across the country. Moreno, along with Nestor Sanares, undersecretary for peace and order of the Department of the Interior and Local Government; MGen. Anthony A. Aberin, National Capital Region Police Office regional director; and MPD District Director General Arnold Abadm laid a wreath during the ceremony where he acknowledged the contributions of the past and present officers of the Manila Police DIsrict (MPD). “A small force in the city of Manila became the playbook of the entire country’s peace and order situation,” he said. He credited the MPD’s work that resulted in a 13 percent drop in crime in the city in the third and fourth quarters of 2025. “Our crime efficiency solution approach rose to 9 percent,” Moreno said, emphasizing the MPD’s success in solving cases and apprehending criminals.
