Sharon Cuneta teases Marcos over ‘wrong’ VP

(UPDATE) SINGER-ACTRESS Sharon Cuneta-Pangilinan teased President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. over his “wrong” vice presidential choice in the 2022 elections. Speaking onstage before the president and first lady Liza Araneta-Marcos at an event in Manila on Thursday, Cuneta-Pangilinan said she “only has one vice president,” who was also her date for the night — her husband, Sen. Francis Pangilinan. “Sir, I have only one vice president... My date tonight. You made the wrong choice, didn’t you?” Cuneta-Pangilinan told Marcos, drawing laughter from the audience. “OK, OK. Let’s move on,” she added. Her remark came amid political tensions between Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte, his UniTeam running mate in 2022. Cuneta-Pangilinan later expressed support for the president, saying she would continue to pray for him and for the country. “I will pray that before we all judge you, that you’re allowed to do your job for all of us,” Cuneta-Pangilinan said. “We pray for your good health, peace of mind from all the fake news, all the disinformation. May God be with you every single day, Mr. President,” she added. The event, “An Evening with the Stars: A Gala Celebrating the Stars Who Continue to Light Our Way,” was attended by celebrities that included Christine Reyes, Dominic Ochoa, John Estrada and Ruffa Gutierrez, and beauty queens Ariella Arida and Ahtisa Manalo. In his speech, Marcos thanked the artists for their contribution to Philippine cinema and the world stage. “Thank you for sharing your gifts so generously with all of us. Thank you for reminding us who we are and what we can become,” he said. “Thank you for proving that Filipino artistry can stand proud on the world stage by embracing what is uniquely ours, what is uniquely Filipino,” Marcos said.
