MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Agriculture (DA) has lifted the import ban on Indian buffalo meat, commonly known as ‘carabeef’, citing minimal risk of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) contagion. Based on Department Circular No. 4, the agency allowed the importation of frozen deboned buffalo meat, noting that the risk of contamination “is negligible.” However, the DA said all import transactions are subject to existing rules and regulations.
