Split streets - Opposing groups march through Bolzano over mass deportation petition

"Hundreds of counter-protesters marched through the northern Italian city of Bolzano on Saturday in opposition to the 'Remigration and Reconquest' campaign, which is calling for mass deportations. Footage shows demonstrators walking through the streets, chanting and holding banners reading, 'Defend Bolzano' and 'Remigration' as others march with placards 'Out with fascism, we are all migrants', 'The only thing to emigrate from is fascism', and 'Fascism is not an opinion, but a crime', and singing 'Bella Ciao', as riot police monitor the area. In January, activists in Italy launched a public petition seeking to compel parliament to debate legislation enabling forced repatriations of migrants. The Committee for Remigration and Reconquest, a coalition of four groups including CasaPound and the Veneto Skinhead Front, organised the petition. The campaign draws on concepts from Austrian activist Martin Sellner, who opposes ethnic diversity and advocates removing immigrants he characterises as refusing to integrate."
