'Mexico will always advocate for world peace' - Sheinbaum amid US-Iran tensions in Middle East

"Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum reiterated on Sunday that Mexico remains firm in its support for world peace amid the recent armed conflicts in the Middle East. During a public event in the state of Baja California Sur, the president commented on the escalation of violence between the United States, Israel, and Iran. "In these difficult times for the world, Mexico has always fought for peace, always, under any circumstances," she said. Sheinbaum clarified that Mexico's voice must be clear in favour of stability and international cooperation, at a time when different powers are redefining alliances and international strategies. "These will always be the principles of our country's foreign policy, and that is what we defend in the face of any situation in the world. Mexico will always advocate for world peace," she emphasised. The United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iranian military targets on Saturday, with US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stating their intention to dismantle Iran's missile capabilities. In response, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced 'widespread missile and drone attacks' targeting Israel, while reports indicated that US military bases in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, and Kuwait were also targeted."
