Fair weather expected due to easterlies in PH

MANILA, Philippines – The entire archipelago would be experiencing fair weather throughout the day due to the easterlies, the state-run weather agency said on Sunday. Weather specialist Veronica Torres of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said it has not monitored any low-pressure area forming inside or outside the country’s area of responsibility. She reiterated that the easterlies – winds that pass through the Pacific Ocean and carry humid and warm weather – would likely persist for the next two to three days. The national weather bureau said the same weather system will affect Metro Manila and the rest of the country, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rain showers or thunderstorms prevailing within the next 24 hours. The heat index, the Pagasa forecaster said, the highest temperature within the day would hit Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur and Cotabato City, Maguindanao at 40 degrees Celsius, which falls under the extreme caution category. Meanwhile, the heat index in Metro Manila could be between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius, particularly in Quezon City and Pasay City, she added.
