"Argentine President Javier Milei said EU policies prioritised political expediency over economic growth, individual freedom, and morality, calling the bloc a 'nanny state'. "Europe has been left without growth, without rule of law, and today it is already becoming clear that its leaders have also been left without any political credibility. And none of this should come as a surprise, because as the saying goes, if we ignore reality... we can still never ignore the consequences of ignoring reality," Milei said during the CPAC gathering in Budapest on Saturday. "Let us observe Brexit. It is obvious that what is shaded by politics, the ideals are not just shady complexes. When someone decides in favor of freedom, then things turn for the better," he continued. Milei also accused EU leaders of masking their self-serving decisions in the 'guise of virtue' to attack private property, meritocracy, and the bloc's sovereignty. "Every subsidy is a vote bought, every regulation has a favour cashed in, every open border is an expanded voter base," he said. "They drape a humanitarian banner over it so that no one dares question it." The CPAC gathering is a forum for conservative and nationalist voices, with figures like German AfD co-chair Alice Weidel and Spanish Vox leader Santiago Abascal also in attendance. It will run until Sunday in the Hungarian capital."
