"Winter sports enthusiasts took part in the 'Carnavel na Vorobyakh' (carnival on Vorobyovy Gory) on Saturday to mark the end of the skiing season in Moscow. Footage shows participants dressed in costumes skiing down the slope to the applause of spectators, as well as the award ceremony. "It's a carnival costume contest, a competition featuring all sorts of costumes, where the judges assess the creativity, the outfit, and the ability to navigate the slope - and, most importantly, to make it through that very puddle at the bottom. Many of the participants did a brilliant job. Everyone was delighted, and it created a wonderful atmosphere. The weather today was perfect for such a celebration," Alexander Panzhinskii, a contest judge, said. For her part, skier Alexandra Solovyova noted that skiing this year was particularly enjoyable. "The [skiing] season turned out to be far more promising and enjoyable than expected, thanks to the winter weather in Moscow, which brought us plenty of snow and ideal conditions [for skiing]. That is why a season like this deserves a grand, global and spectacular finale, just like the one we are witnessing here today," the young woman noted. According to the carnival's press office, guests showcased their costumes in four categories: Russian Style, Guests from the Future, Retro Style, and Most Creative Team. The prize fund for the event was 500,000 rubles (6000 USD). "
