KARACHI: Zubair Tufail, President of the United Business Group (UBG) and former President of FPCCI, has said that Pakistan’s armed forces have consistently ensured the country’s defence during every challenging period. On the occasion of Pakistan Day, he extended warm felicitations to the nation, stating that March 23 holds great significance in the country’s history. He said the day serves as a reminder of the unparalleled sacrifices and historic struggle made by the Muslims of the subcontinent for a separate homeland. He noted that the creation of Pakistan was made possible under the Two-Nation Theory, as Muslims united to safeguard their identity, rights, and freedom. “Today, we are reaping the fruits of those Great sacrifices in the form of an independent state,” he added. Zubair Tufail emphasized that despite current challenges, Pakistan’s defence remains in capable hands, with the entire nation standing firmly alongside its armed forces. He stressed that national unity, adherence to democratic values, and the supremacy of the Constitution are essential for ensuring stability and sustainable development. He further stated that key countries, including Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, continue to repose confidence in Pakistan. Agreements with Saudi Arabia are being upheld, reflecting the country’s commitment to strong bilateral ties. He reiterated that Pakistan seeks peace and does not wish to impose war on any country, while actively playing a constructive role in fostering unity among Muslim nations. He also highlighted ongoing diplomatic engagements by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif with leaders of various Muslim countries as part of these efforts. Expressing concern over the evolving situation in Iran and the Gulf region, he called upon the Muslim Ummah to unite and contribute towards de-escalation. He condemned the loss of innocent lives in several Muslim countries due to aggression and underscored the urgent need for dialogue and diplomacy to restore peace and stability in the region.
