IG Punjab offers Eid prayers at Police Lines

LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, offered Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at District Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh. On this occasion, CCPO Lahore Additional IG Bilal Siddique Kamyana, Additional IG CTD Waseem Sial, Additional IG Raja Riffat Mukhtar, Additional IG Special Branch Imran Ahmar, DIG Investigation Zeeshan Raza, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, DIG Imran Kishwar, DIG Inaam Waheed, along with other senior officers, retired and serving personnel participated. After the prayers, special supplications were offered for the country’s development, security, and prosperity. The IG Punjab laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial and offered Fateha for the departed souls. After Eid-ul-Fitr prayers, IG Punjab Abdul Kareem visited Qurban Lines and called on the family of martyred DIG Captain Syed Ahmad Mubeen (retd), meeting his mother and other family members. He paid rich tribute to the services and sacrifice of the martyred officer. Later, he visited Daroghawala and met the family of constable brothers Ghulam Murtaza and Ali Raza, who were martyred in the Arfa Karim Tower suicide attack, assuring them of full support. The IG Punjab said that the families of police martyrs are part of the department’s own family, and all possible resources are being utilized for their welfare. Earlier, a key meeting chaired by IG Punjab Abdul Kareem was held at the Central Police Office, where detailed review of security arrangements for Chand Raat, Eid-ul-Fitr, Pakistan Day, and Jumu’atul Wida was conducted. DIG Operations Lahore and RPOs briefed the meeting on security situations in their respective areas. The IG Punjab directed that security across the province should remain on high alert during all important occasions, and additional personnel be deployed at places of worship, sensitive installations, and public locations. He emphasized close coordination with Special Branch, CTD, and other agencies to further strengthen the security plan. He also instructed to enhance security of police installations, minorities, and foreign and Chinese nationals, ensure checking of tenants and hotels, and maintain strict vigilance at inter-provincial checkpoints. The IG Punjab directed that search and combing operations around mosques, imambargahs, and sensitive areas should continue, along with continuous monitoring through CCTV cameras. Deployment of plainclothes personnel, commandos, and snipers should also be ensured. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, more than 17,000 personnel were deployed across the province on Chand Raat, while over 47,000 officers and personnel are performing duties for more than 29,000 Eid-ul-Fitr congregations. In Lahore alone, 10,000 personnel have been deployed. On the occasion of Jumu’atul Wida, more than 83,000 police officers, personnel, and community volunteers were deployed for security of over 32,500 mosques, imambargahs, and places of worship across the province.
