LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in her message on the occasion of World Water Day, emphasized that access to clean drinking water is essential for a healthy life. She stated that water is a great blessing of Almighty Allah and a symbol of life, adding that preventing the wastage of water resources is a national responsibility. She noted that Islam also teaches the importance of conserving water, and highlighted that clean drinking water is a fundamental right of every citizen, which the Punjab government is striving to ensure. She shared that filtration plants are being installed in urban areas, while clean drinking water bottles are being provided to rural populations. She further stated that rainwater harvesting projects have been initiated in Rawalpindi and other cities. Maryam Nawaz Sharif added that small dams are being constructed to preserve water resources, and effective management of water usage is essential.
