Yim Jong-yong, the current chairman of Woori Financial Group, was approved by shareholders Monday to lead the South Korean major financial group for another three years, group officials said. Yim was selected as the sole final candidate for the position by the group's executive candidate recommendation committee in late December. He was first appointed chairman in March 2023. His second-term ends in March 2029. During his tenure, he succeeded in entering the securities business and acquiring an insurance company, completing a comprehensive financial group portfolio. Woori Financial Group is one of the country's leading financial holding companies, providing services in commercial banking and credit cards.
