MANILA, Philippines —The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Monday declared the start of the warm, dry season as the northeast monsoon or amihan ended. Pagasa administrator Nathaniel Servando said that the shift of wind direction from northeasterly to easterly due to the formation of the high pressure area over the Northwestern Pacific signifies the termination of the northeast monsoon. “It also indicates the start of the warm and dry season,” Servando said. He, however said that some areas in Northern Luzon may still experience occasional northeasterly winds. The Pagasa chief said the weather will gradually become warmer.
