SCIENCE CITY OF MUÑOZ, Nueva Ecija — The Senate committee on agriculture, food, and agrarian reform on Thursday vowed to expose alleged unscrupulous traders manipulating onion prices, as farmers raised concerns during a hearing held at the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) here. The inquiry, presided over by Sen. Francis Pangilinan, gathered municipal agriculture officers and onion growers’ groups, who pointed to unnamed traders allegedly influencing prices by cornering cold storage facilities and pushing for unnecessary onion imports.
