MANILA, Philippines — State volcanologists observed lava fountaining at Mayon Volcano on Friday night. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the lava fountaining occurred at 8:23 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. “These events produced ash clouds that rose 400 meters before drifting west-southwest,” Phivolcs said. “Effusive eruption at Mayon Volcano continues for the 82nd consecutive day, generating incandescent lava flows, pyroclastic density currents or ‘uson,’ and rockfalls,” it added.
