'Our so-called leaders are more interesting in the rights of illegal migrants than British children,' Matt Goodwin says

Like so many of you, I'm utterly sick and tired of nauseating cases like this one. An asylum seeker who entered Britain illegally on one of the small boats went on to abduct and rape a 12-year-old girl. Well, he is today being given a 16-year sentence. The trial heard that 23-year-old Afghan national Ahmad Mulakhil first spotted the girl playing on swings in a park playground in Nuneaton. He lured the girl down a secluded cul-de-sac before repeatedly raping her and filming the assault. TRENDING Stories Videos Your Say He told police he believed the girl was 19, and accused her of initiating what he claimed had been his first sexual encounter. He arrived just four months before the attack on one of the small boats. How on earth have we got to the point where dangerous men like this are even in our country? To begin with, we have clearly lost all control of our borders, and I think that our generosity clearly is now being rewarded with sickening cases like this one. According to aggregated percentages calculated by the centre for Migration Control using official Ministry of Justice data, the seven nationalities that accounted for about three quarters of all of the crossings on the small boats in 2024, they had a 110 per cent increase in the number of sexual offence convictions in this country between 2021 and 2024. Also, let me remind you of cases like Rhiannon Whyte, the young mum who was stabbed 23 times by a screwdriver and killed by an asylum seeker from Sudan. Then, nearly 10 months to the day after Rhiannon Whyte was murdered, more than 100 left wing politicians, celebrities and so-called women's rights campaigners signed an open letter in which they railed against what they call the racist weaponisation of migrant violence against women and girls and - you guessed it - the far right and in Westminster. I am so done with our so-called leaders, who are more interested in prioritising the rights of illegal migrants over the rights of our own British people and children. The blunt reality is this we can neither regain control of our broken borders without fully leaving, not just reforming the European Convention on Human Rights. BRITAIN'S BORDERS CRISIS - READ THE LATEST: GB News star left in tears after small boat migrant sentenced over rape of 12-year-old Illegal migrant jailed for 16 years for raping girl, 12, four months after crossing Channel 'We deserve to know if council houses will be handed to asylum seekers - but the Home Office doesn't' It makes it impossible for us to return to being a self-governing, sovereign nation that has full control over our own borders and laws. Now, contrary to what the elite class will tell you in Westminster, contrary to what the politicians will tell you, we do not need to belong to the ECHR. The British and the English never needed some strange foreign regional court and convention to protect our freedoms and rights. And in my opinion, leaving it would be the first step to ensuring fewer of these horrific attacks happening in our country. We need to protect women and children across the country, and the first step to doing that is regaining control over our borders by leaving the ECHR. Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter
