Higher education, skills development: Sindh Governor, IoBM leadership discuss enhancing cooperation

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Muhammad Nehal Hashmi on Friday met senior leadership of the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) to discuss enhancing cooperation in higher education, research and youth skills development. The meeting was attended by IoBM President Talib S Karim and Chancellor Muhammad Bashir Janmohammad. Discussions focused on aligning academic programmes with evolving market demands and equipping young people with industry-relevant skills. Hashmi said quality education and a skilled workforce are essential for sustainable economic growth, emphasizing closer collaboration between educational institutions and the government to address skills gaps. He added that equipping youth with education suited to contemporary challenges remains a priority, in line with the vision of former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to expand technical and vocational training. The Governor also announced that new IT and modern training courses would soon be launched at the Governor House under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme to broaden access to practical skills development.
