MANILA, Philippines — A total of 1,297 passenger buses across the country were granted special permits to operate during Holy Week, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said on Saturday. According to LTFRB chairperson Vigor Mendoza II, the agency granted these buses special permits to ensure that there are enough passenger buses, as it anticipates an influx of passengers during this period. “The increase in the number of passengers at this time of the year is normal because this is an annual religious activity that is really important for the Filipino people,” Mendoza said in a statement.
