"Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, during a campaign rally in Gyor on Friday, accused Ukraine of meddling in Hungary’s upcoming elections, alleging that Ukrainian spies and intelligence agents are actively operating inside the country. "The prime minister, his children, and his minor grandchildren were threatened with death. My phone calls are being intercepted, [...] Ukrainians know exactly that if we win, Hungary will not go to war, the Hungarian people's money will not go to Ukraine, and Ukraine will never in its life join the European Union," he said Szijjarto claimed Kiev is trying its best to install a 'pro-Ukrainian' government, warning that Hungary would resist any such moves. "The purpose of the Ukrainian secret service intervention is none other than for Zelensky to form a government in Hungary. A pro-Ukrainian government, with a pro-Ukrainian prime minister, but we will not allow this," he claimed. "It's time to end the Ukrainian intelligence intervention. Show a red card to the Ukrainians, show a red card to the Ukrainian intelligence, show a red card to the Ukrainian spies, and the Ukrainian agents. Go home to Ukraine!" he added. The comments come as Prime Minister Viktor Orban continues to oppose Hungary's deeper involvement in the war in Ukraine, arguing that the conflict is not in 'Hungary's interests.' During the rally, Orban warned that the war in Ukraine, rising energy prices, and conflict in the Middle East are affecting oil and gas flows, stressing the need to safeguard the country's energy imports and avoid policies that could increase costs for the average household. Hungary blocked the latest 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine, with that country and Slovakia accusing Ukraine of halting Russian oil via the Druzhba pipeline for political reasons. Kiev claims it was damaged by a 'Russian attack'. Hungary has also repeatedly accused the EU and Ukraine of attempting to interfere in April's elections and bring down the Orban government due to the ongoing rows over energy and accession, while Zelensky himself was accused of threatening Orban's life, saying he would give the PM's 'address' to his armed forces."
