"Footage taken on Saturday shows Israeli forces advancing in the southern countryside of Syria’s Quneitra, where soldiers were seen questioning several young men. Syrian state media reported that "two vehicles belonging to the Israeli occupation forces, accompanied by around 20 personnel, advanced west of Al-Rafid village in the southern countryside of Quneitra and detained five young men", adding that they were later released. The Israeli military had not commented on the incursion at the time of publication. The current transitional government took power in Damascus in December 2024, later appointing Ahmad Al-Sharaa as interim president. Since then, Israel has expanded its presence in southern Syria, deploying troops to the buffer zone between the two and destroying Syrian military assets through airstrikes and naval attacks purportedly to prevent their capture by 'hostile forces'. Meanwhile, reports have surfaced of attacks against Druze, Alawite, Christian and other minority groups, sparking calls in Suwayda province for separation. "
