"Footage captured on Sunday shows Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stumbling and falling to the ground while welcoming his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty in Islamabad. The misstep came as high-level diplomatic efforts got underway in the Pakistani capital, where four regional powers are holding talks aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East. Also attending the meeting are Hakan Fidan, Turkey’s foreign minister, and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. According to Pakistan’s foreign ministry, the talks will include "in-depth discussions on a range of issues, including efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East region”. It comes after the United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iran during diplomatic efforts over Tehran’s nuclear and missile programmes. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli territory and US assets across the region, with explosions reported in several Gulf countries. Iran later confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was succeeded by his son Mojtaba Khamenei. The conflict has since expanded into Lebanon, where Hezbollah has launched attacks on Israel, while global energy markets have been disrupted by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply. The escalation has pushed oil prices above $100 per barrel, adding pressure to global markets and triggering protests in several countries."
