Hailin building collapse – Rescue teams race against time as nine trapped beneath rubble in Northeast China

"Emergency teams are racing to rescue at least nine people believed to be trapped after a building collapsed in Hailin on Sunday, in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. Drone footage shows ambulances lined up around the collapsed building, nestled between several multi-storey residential structures. Meanwhile, heavy machinery can be seen clearing rubble in search of survivors. Police cordoned off the area shortly after the incident to prevent onlookers from gathering near the site. "I heard that a building collapsed here early this morning and I was quite surprised," said Li, a local resident. "I heard that some people are still trapped, and I hope they can be rescued soon. Praying for them." Rescue and emergency services said operations are underway to extract those trapped in the rubble. Meanwhile, the exact cause of the collapse is still under investigation."
