Baguio contemplates raising drinking age to 21 years

BAGUIO CITY – The Baguio City Council is contemplating new policy that would raise the legal drinking age in the summer capital from the current 18 to 21 years old as it addresses the health impact of alcohol consumption in an upgraded liquor ordinance.  Since the start of the year, the Council has been deliberating on draft amendments to its 1990 liquor code to ease operational restrictions on restaurants and bars while removing drinking establishments from the proximity of schools and the university belts which would be designated as alcohol-free zones, according to Proposed Ordinance No. 0023-20.
