Pak-Qatar Business Council eyes investment opportunities

LAHORE: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) President Atif Ikram Sheikh has said that the Pakistan-Qatar Joint Business Council will serve as an effective platform for exploring new investment opportunities and promoting partnerships between the private sectors. He said this while addressing the inaugural virtual session of the Pakistan-Qatar Joint Business Council held at the FPCCI Regional Office Lahore on Thursday. The session was addressed by Zaki Aijaz, Regional Chairman and Vice President FPCCI, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Obaidly, Board Member of Qatar Chamber, and Mehmood Arshad, Chairman of FPCCI Pak-Qatar Business Council. During the meeting, participants held detailed discussions on bilateral trade, investment, future activities, strategic planning, and various aspects of enhancing mutual business cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar. Zaki Aijaz said the Pakistan-Qatar Joint Business Council is an important platform for promoting cooperation between the business communities of both countries. He appreciated the ongoing collaboration between FPCCI and Qatar Chamber, stating that the activation of the Joint Business Council was made possible through this continued cooperation. In his address, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Obaidly said that relations between Qatar and Pakistan are steadily strengthening, supported by high-level visits and agreements across various sectors. He noted that bilateral trade between the two countries reached QR 11.8 billion in 2025, reflecting strong economic ties. He also reaffirmed Qatar Chamber’s commitment to continuing full support for the promotion of trade and investment cooperation. He described Pakistan as an important strategic economic partner, highlighting Pakistan’s dynamic market, skilled workforce, and diverse investment opportunities, while also noting that Qatar’s investment-friendly environment aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030. Chairman of FPCCI Pak-Qatar Business Council, Mehmood Arshad, praised the strong economic relations between Pakistan and Qatar and stressed that the private sector can play a key role in enhancing bilateral cooperation.
