ISLAMABD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to electronically monitor manufacturing, production and clearance processes of packaged milk, iron and steel, oil and ghee from factories. The FBR has already given deadline of June 15, 2026 to all manufacturers of bottled water to install electronic production monitoring system. In this regard, the FBR has issued a notification on Thursday. This notification shall come into force at once. According to the notification, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (l) of section 50 and section 40C of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, the FBR has notified that the production of registered persons engaged in the manufacturing of packaged milk, iron and steel and oil and ghee shall be electronically monitored in accordance with the provisions of rule l50ZQR of Chapter XIV-BA of the Sales Tax Rules, 2006, with immediate effect. As per sales tax general order (STGO) 3 of 2026, all registered persons engaged in the production and packaging of bottled water, whether on their own account or as toll manufacturers, shall install the electronic production monitoring solution. Production Monitoring System comprises hardware and software including Production Monitoring and Information System. The production monitoring system shall be supplied, installed and maintained by the vendors authorised by the Board. All the said registered persons are hereby directed under law to make necessary arrangements for installation of electronic production monitoring system by June 15, 2026, the FBR added.
