Palace declares May 27 a holiday for Eid’l Adha

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday issued a circular declaring next Wednesday, May 27, a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid'l Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice. Proclamation 1264 was issued to allow Filipino Muslims the opportunity to properly observe the occasion. The date of the observance was chosen based on the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos following the Hijrah Islamic Lunar Calendar. Eid’l Adha is recognized as one of the two greatest feasts of Islam, the other being Eid’l Fitr or the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting.
