MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported a 9 percent increase in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year. According to its latest report, the DOH recorded about 4,633 cases. Of that number, 4,381—or 95 percent—were males, while 252 were females. Despite the increase, the average number of cases recorded per day declined by 11 percent from the previous quarter, with 51 cases logged daily.
