Pinoy employees second happiest in workplace in Asia-Pacific — report

MANILA, Philippines — Employees in the Philippines are the second happiest in the workplace in the Asia Pacific region, according to a Jobstreet SEEK report. The Workplace Happiness Index: Philippines 2025 report said that 77 percent of Filipino employees were “extremely and somewhat happy” in their workplace. Separately, the index said that 44 percent were “somewhat happy” while 33 percent, “extremely happy”. Meanwhile, 18 percent are “neutral,” 3 percent are “somewhat unhappy” while 2 percent are “extremely unhappy.” By region, respondents in the Visayas are the happiest (82 percent), followed by those in the National Capital Region (77 percent), while Luzon and Mindanao are tied at last place (76 percent). “Interestingly, happiness at work is similar across Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao, suggesting that workers in the Philippines are broadly united in their sentiment towards workplace happiness,” the report read. According to the Jobstreet report, employees “increasingly associate their workplace happiness with their sense of purpose, learning and development opportunities, and day-to-day responsibilities”. “The latest report found that 77 percent of respondents feel valued at work, while 74 percent described their jobs as fulfilling, revealing widespread positivity and satisfaction within the workplace,” it said. “Despite broad happiness levels, Jobstreet by SEEK reports that stress and burnout are having an impact on workers. Only two in five (41 percent) report being in control of their stress levels, while 38 percent said they are burnt out or extremely exhausted with their jobs,” it added. Also, 41 percent of workers are concerned about the impact of artificial intelligence in their line of work. “The report only shows how employee preferences are evolving and how their work environment shapes their overall happiness and sense of purpose. Jobstreet by SEEK, through this study, seeks to empower hirers in navigating these shifts and creating workplaces that foster talent engagement and long-term growth,” said Dannah Majarocon, Managing Director of Jobstreet by SEEK in the Philippines. At 82 percent, Indonesia topped the list of the happiest workplace in the Asia-Pacific region, according to the report.
